Dhahabu Foundation for Children and Youth with Disability (DFCYD) is a registered Non-Governmental Organization operating under the provisions of the Non-Governmental Organizations Act, No. 24 of 2002, with registration number 00NGO/R/0694 in 2019. Our foundation was established in recognition of the numerous challenges faced by children and with disabilities, including stigmatization, discrimination, exclusion, exploitation, and the denial of their rights, both in Tanzania and globally.

We are driven by a strong commitment to advocate for the rights of children and Youth with Disabilities, raise awareness about the critical issues they face, and empower them to overcome these obstacles. We believe in creating a society where children with disabilities are valued and respected, where their dignity is upheld, and their talents are nurtured.

Our primary objective is to promote accountability for children and Youth with disabilities and their parents/caretakers within the community. We work closely with the government at local and national levels, providing accurate and comprehensive information to support informed decision-making that enhances the welfare and well-being of people with disabilities.
In addition to our advocacy efforts, we strive to challenge societal mindsets, perspectives, and attitudes towards children and Youth with disabilities. We are dedicated to combating all forms of violence, exploitation, and discrimination rooted in traditions, values, norms, and customs. Through these endeavors, we aim to revolutionize the societal perception of children and Youth with disabilities, empowering them to become productive, competitive, and adaptive individuals who can thrive in their respective contexts.
