EcoAbility Climate RESILIENCE
program that addresses challenges of climate change on people with disabilities in Tanzania. As a climate change and adaptation expert write a paragraph on how climate change affects people with disabilities
Climate change poses unique challenges for people with disabilities, as they are often more vulnerable to its impacts. Extreme weather events, such as floods, droughts, and heatwaves, can disproportionately affect individuals with disabilities due to limited mobility, sensory impairments, or other physical or cognitive limitations. For example, lack of accessible evacuation routes or emergency shelters can put people with disabilities at greater risk during natural disasters. Additionally, changes in temperature and air quality can exacerbate existing health conditions, such as respiratory issues or chronic pain, further compromising the well-being of individuals with disabilities. Addressing the intersection of climate change and disability is crucial to ensure the resilience and safety of all members of society.
